Degrees of Difference

He replied, "Because you have so little faith. I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there' and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you." Matt 17:20

Sometimes a little difference can make all the difference.
 
We were sitting in a small group with our pastors talking about temperature. The man said, "You know, I can turn the temperature down one degree, and for me, that degree makes all the difference between being cool and comfortable, and feeling like I'm in the Sahara desert! But, that one degree can also make the difference of upwards of $100 on my energy bill."
 
Our youth pastor once said, "Just one degree, warmer or colder, and water changes forms, from either frozen to liquid, or liquid to steam. Just one degree makes all the difference."
 
This principle can be applied to our lives as well. What small changes can we make that will make all the difference? For me, if I wake up just 30 minutes earlier, it means I have time to write a message. For people trying to lose weight, it only takes eating 1 less thing in order to kick-start the weight loss process. For those who have trouble finding happiness in life, it only takes 1 shift in thought that can turn dissatisfaction into true contentment.
 
What small things can you change that will make all the difference? Maybe it's listening to the Bible on CD in the car for 15 minutes to get some encouragement before the rush at work. Perhaps it's calling a friend you don't see much. Or maybe it's getting some time alone to think and pray to God. Often our busy lives don't allow for much of that.
 
Let God lead you in making small changes that can benefit your life. Sometimes a little difference can make all the difference in the quality of our lives and the accomplishment of our goals and dreams.
